Oviedo is ranked as the best place to raise a family in the Orlando area by Niche. The suburban town has excellent schools and an abundance of leisure and recreation activities close by, so it’s not hard to see why it is ranked so highly. Here are five reasons why I think Oviedo, FL, is an amazing place to live.

High-performing schools.

In the 2021 ranking of suburbs with the best public schools in Florida, Oviedo is an impressive fifth. Oviedo’s elementary schools, in particular, are above average, with Lawton, Stenstrom, Partin, and Evans all scoring eight out of ten on Great Schools. Oviedo is just a twenty-minute drive from the University of Central Florida, too, meaning your kids are perfectly positioned when taking the step to higher education. Whatever age your kids are when you move to Oviedo, you will find many appealing education options available.

Awesome outdoor trails.

Oviedo and Seminole County more broadly, have a range of parks and outdoor areas for residents and visitors to explore. The Bear Creek Nature Trail provides the perfect escape into the Florida wilderness even though it slices straight through a suburban neighborhood. Hikers also enjoy visiting Little Big Econ State Forest, where you can follow various trails and explore a range of local ecosystems and experience stunning vistas. The abundance of outdoor trails encourages locals to stay fit and healthy while enjoying the beautiful year-round sunshine.

Oviedo on the Park.

Many things make Oviedo on the Park special, but my favorite is the impressive array of dining options. Three of my favorites include Marlow’s TavernDe La Vega’s, and Taziki’s Mediterranean Café. Characteristic of the area is the fact that you can enjoy exquisite cuisine from all around the world here, and residents are fortunate that they don’t have to travel far to enjoy a delicious meal out with family and friends.

Varied and impressive real estate.

The real estate market in Oviedo is diverse and impressive. Neighborhoods like Lake Charm, neighborhoods along Alafaya Woods Blvd have been around for a long time. Most properties [around 70%] in Oviedo were built between 1970 & 2000, with more than 25% being constructed after 2000. This gives residents an excellent choice when it comes to relatively modern living, ranch style homes and more recently newer townhomes and city living products located close to Oviedo on the Park. Oviedo’s real estate certainly appeals to a broad spectrum of buyers.

The perfect Central Florida location.

While I think that Central Florida has so many excellent areas to live in, Oviedo is undoubtedly one of the best. It’s perfectly positioned, and commuters can reach downtown Orlando via the 417 in just over 30 minutes time. You can also reach several beaches in just around an hour with Playalinda and Canaveral beaches being the closest and my favorite New Smyrna Beach to the north. As well as the outdoor recreation opportunities in and around Oviedo, you’re about 45 minutes from the theme parks, providing you with the perfect weekend activity to enjoy.

Oviedo is certainly a desirable spot within Central Florida and as a Realtor, I’m ready to introduce you to any Oviedo properties that match your budget and lifestyle priorities.
